Help Pick our Riesling on Saturday, October 17th!
Each harvest we invite our friends and customers to join us in hand-picking the Riesling vineyards that surround the tasting room at Keuka Lake Vineyards. We lovingly ferment this hand-harvested fruit to produce our Goldman, Evergreen Lek, Falling Man vineyard designated Dry Rieslings.
There is no denying that it is a day of manual labor (picture stooping in the vineyard sun for 8 hours with a pair of shears and a pile of lug boxes to fill), but the camaraderie and sense of accomplishment is more than enough to bring back a dedicated crew each year. As a token of our appreciation, we provide a homemade lunch for nourishment and a harvest dinner (with Keuka Lake Vineyards wines) to celebrate the work involved in making handcrafted wines. Finally, as a contributor to the grape/wine industry, on harvest day you will receive our industry discount of 33% on any wine purchased in the tasting room.
• This year we will pick on Saturday, October 17th.
• We start at 9 am and finish around 5 or 6 pm. We begin with instruction on the art of picking and then set everyone free in the vineyard. There is a break for lunch around noon and a harvest dinner after the last cluster is picked.
• We still pick, even wet. The harvest will be cancelled only if the heavy, all day sort of rain is forecasted. We'll send updates on what to expect in the days leading up to the harvest.
• Items to bring: sunscreen, hat, old long sleeve/short sleeve shirt (layers), shoes you can walk the bumpy vineyard in, rain gear, and a camera to prove that you don't always work behind a desk.
• To sign up, email us ASAP with the number of people in your party and contact phone number.
