2015 Riesling Harvest Day Set for October 3, 2015
Each harvest we invite our friends and customers to join us in hand-picking a Riesling vineyard that surrounds the tasting room at Keuka Lake Vineyards. We lovingly ferment this hand-harvested fruit to produce our Goldman, Evergreen Lek, and Falling Man vineyard-designated Rieslings and from the Ernesto Lucie vineyard to blend in our dry and semi-dry Estate Rieslings.
There is no denying that it is a day of manual labor (picture one vineyard, a pair of shears, and a pile of lug boxes to fill), but the camaraderie and sense of accomplishment bring back a dedicated crew each year. As a token of our appreciation, we provide a homemade lunch for nourishment and a celebration dinner complete with KLV wines. Additionally, as a contributor to the grape & wine industry, on harvest day you will receive our employee discount of 33% on most wine purchased in the tasting room.
If you want to help us, call or email to get on the list!
• We start at 9 a.m. and finish about 5 or 6 p.m. There is a break for lunch around noon and a harvest dinner in the evening after the last cluster is harvested. No experience needed; we begin with instruction on the art of picking and then set everyone free in the vineyard.
• We will pick even in light rain. The harvest will be cancelled only if the heavy, all day sort of rain is forecasted. We'll send updates on what to expect in the days leading up to the harvest.
• Items to bring: sunscreen, hat, old long sleeve/short sleeve shirt (layers), shoes to navigate the bumpy vineyard, rain gear, and a camera to prove that you don't always work behind a desk!
• To sign up, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (607) 868-4100 with a contact name, phone number, and the number of people in your party. Space is limited, so please contact us as soon as possible and we'll make sure to set aside a row for you!
